Ingredient list for Grilled Steak Bites.

  • Beef: I used beef trimmings for this recipe. These are leftover pieces of meat after steaks, roasts and other cuts are beef are trimmed.
  • Worcestershire sauce: a savory and salty sauce that I used for the binder.
  • Steak seasoning: savory, herby flavors that work best with steak.
  • Garlic cloves: adds savory and pungent kick to balance the beefiness of the steak.
  • Unsalted butter: adds a rich creamy sauce to the steak.

Step 1: How to prep the perfect savory garlic steak bites

For this recipe I used beef tenderloin trimmings. Sometimes, grocery stores will package trimmings and sell at a cheaper price than a whole tenderloin. It’s a great way to save a few dollars and still have very tender and flavorful meat. Other options include beef tenderloin or any steak cut.

Cube up the beef into bite size pieces. Add a binder before applying seasoning. I went with W sauce and followed it up with Dad’s Steak seasoning. Mix the steak cubes making sure to cover all pieces with the sauce and seasoning.

Step 2: How to grill garlic steak bites.

This garlic steak bites recipe is very QUICK and EASY to make. I used my griddle but a regular grill set for direct heat will work just fine.

Recipe Tip

  • If you are using a different grill other than a flat top, make sure to use a cast iron skillet.

Preheat the grill to high heat, add some olive oil so the meat does not stick to the flat top and drop the seasoned steak bites on the griddle.

Flip them every minute to ensure an even cook throughout. total cook time should be around 5-7 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What cut of steak should I use for garlic steak bites?

For an economical approach, use beef trimmings. These are leftover pieces of steak from larger beef cuts, roast, etc.. Usually stores have these pre-packed in the meat isle. People use these for stews. If not, ask your butcher.

At what temperature should I remove the steak?

The internal temperature all depends on how you want or prefer your steak cooked. For a medium rare, remove it at between 120-125 degrees. If you are going for a medium cooked steak, anywhere between 135-140 degrees. Anything over will be well done. Remember to always rest the meat for 10 minutes before slicing.

Can I make the garlic steak bites on stove top?

Garlic steak bites can be cooked on the stove top using a frying pan. The base of the pan will work similarly to a griddle flat top.

Notes

If you don’t like or have Worcestershire sauce, use hot sauce or olive oil as your seasoning binder.
An alternative to steak seasoning would be equal parts salt and pepper.
Use jar minced garlic if you don’t have any fresh cloves around.
Make sure to use unsalted butter.  Between the seasoning and garlic, the mix of flavors may be overpowering and too salty if salted butter is used. You can always add salt if the dish is too bland for your liking.
