Grilling wings is quickly becoming one of my favorite cooks.  The crispiness of the wing coated in a sticky sauce of choice is a staple of mine.  From spicy to savory and zesty, the options are limitless. For this recipe I did a take on sweet and spice.  What a great combo! You get the savoriness in the first bite from the seasoning followed by some heat from the homemade sweet and spice BBQ sauce. This recipe is simple, quick and perfect for tailgating season!

Sweet and Spicy Wing ingredients

Grill the chicken wings first.

Seasoned and grilled wings

In a large bowl, coat raw chicken wing pieces in olive oil and season them with Dad’s All Purpose rub. Toss them around to make sure each piece is nicely seasoned.

Heat up the grill to 375 degrees and place the wings on indirect heat. Make sure to flip the wings about half way through to ensure an even cook throughout.  Total grill time should be about 35-40 minutes or until wings reach an internal temperature of 180 degrees.

How to make the Sweet BBQ Sauce

While the wings are on the grill, it’s time to make the homemade BBQ sauce.  In a sauce pan add 1/4 cup each of Sparkling Ice Black Cherry brown sugar and ketchup, 2 tbsp hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce and 1 tbsp BBQ seasoning of choice.  Let the ingredients simmer over low heat for 10 minutes allowing them to mix nicely together for that perfect wing coating.  The aroma from this sauce fills the kitchen with that sweet and savory scent. Trust me, you’ll be salivating before this recipe is ready!
