Start a new tradition Christmas morning with this Panettone bread pudding.  It’s rich, creamy and fills the house with amazing holiday smells. With an easy prep, bake this dish while you enjoy family time. It’s a twist to a traditional bread pudding but using a Panettone loaf that is rich in Italian holiday flavors with raisins inside. Covered in a peanut butter whiskey cream sauce, this dish is guaranteed to be a hit.  Of course, I made this on my grill for that added extra layer of smokiness.

How to make Panettone Bread Pudding

To start, take the star ingredient, Panettone, and cube into 1-2 inch cubes.

Spread butter around the inside of a 9×13 baking dish and place the cubed up cake inside.

To make the custard, in a mixing bowl, add sugar, milk, heavy cream and eggs.  Whisk the ingredients together and pour over the Panettone.

Recipe Tip

You can add a little bit of nutmeg or cinnamon for that extra holiday flavor, but no more than a teaspoon.  The Panettone is already rich in flavors and you don’t want anything overpowering them.

Dad’s Seasonings

Must have grillin seasonings!

Grill the Panettone Bread Pudding

Yes I baked my bread pudding on the grill.  Before you do the same, make sure the grill is clean with no burnt residue.  Set the grill to 350 degrees on indirect heat.  Place the soaked cake onto the grates and let it bake for about 1 hour.  To ensure a cooked through bread pudding, do a toothpick test by inserting into the center and removing clear.

All this can be done in the oven with the same result.

How to make a Peanut Butter Whiskey sauce

This peanut butter whiskey sauce is the secret that brings this dish together! I could use it on EVERYTHING!

In a saucepan, add Skrewball whiskey, sugar, heavy cream, milk and melted butter. Bring the ingredients to a boil constantly whisking.  Then, let it simmer until the sauce thickens. The alcohol content will burn off making it safe to eat by children.

Recipe Tip

If you prefer not to use whiskey, use creamy peanut butter and a little bit of vanilla extract.

Scoop up the Panettone bread pudding into a bowl, pour some peanut butter whiskey sauce over it and enjoy this decadent, creamy soft treat.
