Korean Beef Ribs

I have been on a beef rib kick lately.  This time decided to do something different from the traditional BBQ rib feast so I grilled up some Korean beef ribs.  It’s a great tasting combination of the beefy ribs and deliciously flavorful marinade.  This recipe is the perfect snack on a summer afternoon!

Need to start with the marinade.

First, you need to get started on the marinade.  The ingredients are simple yet powerful in taste!  You’ll need asian pears or kiwi’s as substitutes if you cannot find pears, white onion, whole green onions and a whole lot of garlic.  Chop up all the ingredients and drop them in a blender until everything is liquified into a smoothy.

Next, in a larger container, pour in the veggie smoothy and add in soy sauce, toasted sesame seeds, sesame oil, sugar, orange juice and apple juice.  Whoo, did you get all that?! Let me tell you, this marinade smells just absolutely amazing!!!

Mix all the ingredients together and submerge the rib strips in the special sauce.  For the ribs, these are precut Flanken style short ribs.  They should be about a quarter inch thick with the bone in.

Make sure to cover all sides of the ribs with the marinade.  Set aside for a few hours, ideally overnight, to let the meat absorb all those wonderful asian inspired flavors.

Time to grill up those beef ribs!

Heat up the grill to 400 degrees for direct heat.   Place the marinated ribs directly on the grates for 2 minutes per side. Once the cook is done, take the ribs off the grill and set aside for about an 1 hour while the meat rests.

Before serving, cut the Korean beef ribs into smaller single serve pieces.  Top off with some chopped green onion and enjoy!
