I’ve been trying out salsa recipes for a while and when I came across a recipe by Chiles and Smoke I was blown away. Inspired by the original, I made slight changes, adding a GWD spin, and this salsa recipe came out amazing. Trust me when I say, this is the best homemade salsa you will have. It’s simple, easy, spicy and fresh. Serve it with a bag of tortilla chips or veggies and enjoy it with friends or keep it all to yourself. No judging.

Step 1: How to make the best homemade salsa.

This best homemade salsa takes a few minutes to make. Serve it fresh or mix it the day before.

In a blender, add fire roasted tomatoes, freshly chopped jalapeno with seeds removed, chipotle pepper in adobo sauce, fresh cilantro, lime zest and juice, chopped white and red onion, Dad’s Taco seasoning and salt and pepper for taste.

Dad’s Seasonings

Must have grillin seasonings!

Recipe Tip

  • If you want fresh fire roasted tomatoes, preheat the grill to a medium heat and place a few tomatoes directly on the charcoal. Flip every minute to get a nice char on all sides before removing. Blend with the skin.

Blend the ingredients to your desired consistency. I prefer mine slightly chunky.

It’s safe to keep in the fridge for 1-2 days, but let’s be honest, it won’t last that long. Enjoy!

Frequently Asked Questions:

Can I use canned veggies?

The simple answer is yes. I used canned roasted tomatoes and they were perfect for the recipe. Fresh is always better, but sometimes convenience and accessibility are more important. Either way, the outcome will be just as delicious.

  1. Your salsa sounds like the one I make at home. Is addictive and it goes fast. I use del Monte stewed tomatoes with Mexican chilies and the rest is the same. Yummy!
