I’m a big fan of spicy food.  Almost all my recipes have some type of heat in them.  For these mango habanero chicken drumsticks I definitely elevated that heat level.  The sauce was sweet and spicy which was balanced by the savoriness of the chicken drumsticks. This is also a great sauce for chicken wings!

Time to grill the chicken drumsticks!

Preheat the grill to 375 degrees and set for indirect heat.  While the grill is getting to temperature, prep the chicken.

This part is very simple.  Take the chicken drumsticks or wings if you prefer, coat them in olive oil and season with your choice of BBQ seasoning.  I used Meat Church Holy Gospel for a sweeter note.

Place the chicken on the indirect side first for 45 minutes or until the internal temperature of the meat is 175 degrees.  Next, place the drumsticks on the direct side to get a nice char on the skin.  Flip every minute for a total of 5 minutes.

Dad’s Seasonings

Must have grillin seasonings!

Let’s get saucy.

While the chicken is cooking, it’s the perfect time to prep the sauce.  In a blender add 2 or 3 habanero peppers depending on your heat tolerance, sliced mango, white onion, garlic cloves and freshly squeezed lime juice.  Blend it all together until the ingredients are fully liquified.

Pour the mixture into a saucepan and some brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, honey, water, salt, pepper and paprika. Simmer over low heat until the sauce thickens and set aside.

Once you take the chicken off the grill, toss them in the homemade sauce and enjoy your Mango Habanero Chicken Drumsticks. Enjoy!
