They say everything is better with bacon!  How about some candied bacon strips for that sweet and savory craving.  Let me show you how to make the most amazing quick and easy snack.

Prepare the candy coating.

This recipe is super simple and can be done quickly with only a few ingredients.

On a sheet pan, pour brown sugar, your choice of BBQ rub and some crushed red pepper.  For the BBQ rub, I went with Hardcore Carnivore Red. Mix all 3 ingredients together and evenly spread throughout the pan.

Next, take the individual strips of bacon and generously cover with the sugar blend.  Make sure to coat every little inch of that strip.  After coating, place each strip on a wire rack.

For the bacon, I went with Swift Meats Double Smoked Thick Cut Bacon.  The trick is to use thick cut bacon which will take longer to crisp allowing the brown sugar to properly caramelize.

Time to grill!

Set up the grill for indirect heat and raise the temperature to 350 degrees.  Place the wire rack directly on the grate and let it cook for 20 to 25 minutes.  Make sure to check on the bacon every few minutes.  You want the sugar to melt and not char.

Once the bacon strips are nicely coated with a thick layer of the melted sugar, remove them from the grill.  Allow the candied bacon to rest for 5 minutes to allow the sugar to harden.  Enjoy!
