Have you ever run into a situation where you’re cooking something up on the grill and realize the BBQ sauce you thought was in the fridge is not there? Well, this used to happen to me all the time, that is until I realized homemade is so much better. The ingredients are simple home staples that always come in handy. Once you make your first BBQ sauce, there is no going back to store bought options. Best of all you can modify the spice or sweetness levels to your liking. For this recipe, I used my traditional ingredients and added something special…bourbon. This bourbon bbq sauce is out of this world. Savory, tangy and sweet. Perfect on basically anything you grill.

In a sauce pan, add ketchup, brown sugar, honey, molasses, Dad’s All Purpose rub, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar and a little bit of bourbon. Simmer over low heat until the sauce starts to thicken. The alcohol will cook down and evaporate making it safe to eat by children.
Dad’s Seasonings
Must have grillin seasonings!
Glaze a grilled chicken while still on the grill and let it caramelize over the skin, smoke some cocktail meatballs with the bourbon bbq sauce as a party appetizer, or use it as a condiment on your burger. The usage is endless.
