Lay the bacon strips on a cutting board. Brush a thin layer of BBQ sauce on both sides followed by a generous seasoning of Maple Bourbon rub.
To form the shape of a rose, gently roll the bacon into a tight spiral mid way down the strip. Next, take the remaining strip and twist it around. Once done you will notice the rose petals take shape. Secure it with a toothpick.
Once rolled, place the bacon roses into a muffin pan.
Preheat the grill to a medium heat (350–375°F) and set it up for indirect cooking.
Place the muffin pan filled bacon roses on the grill and cook for about 20-30 minutes untill the roses are crispy and golden brown.
Just before removing the grilled bacon roses from the grill, brush another layer of BBQ sauce for that final shine.
Let them rest for 3-5 minutes.
Gently remove the toothpicks from each grilled bacon roseand insert a wooden skewer from the bottom which will act as the stem. Enjoy!
Notes
Make sure to use thick cut bacon. Doesn't burn as fast. Helps form fuller rose pedals. If you don't have maple bourbon seasoning, a mix of brown sugar and salt will work.Use a toothpick to hold be bacon in the rose shape. Don't forget to remove the toothpick once cooked.
