Unsalted butter
Instructions
In a medium sized bowl whisk the eggs. Add the honey, milk, melted butter and mix again.
In a separate bowl add the flour, corn meal, salt and baking powder. Mix the ingredients together.
Pour the wet mix over the dry ingredients and gently fold the batter together.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Add 2tbsp unsalted butter to a 10" cast iron skillet and place in the oven to preheat and melt.
Carefully remove the hot skillet from the oven and pour in the cornbread mixture. Bake for 35-45 minutes until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Don’t overmix
the batter—gentle folding keeps it fluffy.
Preheat your skillet
for that signature crispy edge.
Let the cornbread rest
for 10 minutes before slicing so it stays moist.
Add mix-ins like
jalapeños, cheddar, corn kernels, or bacon
if you want more flavor.
